23 September, 2019. With the Basler boost camera series, Basler expands its portfolio with cameras featuring the new CoaXPress 2.0 standard and modern CMOS sensor technology.
Benefit from the simplification through the interaction of a CoaXPress camera and the specially developed Interface Card from Basler. Design-in samples of the boost camera with CXP-12 interface for high resolutions and bandwidths and the CXP-12 Starter Kit are now available in the form of the CoaXPress 2.0 Evaluation Kit. The boost camera offers outstanding image quality either with the Sony IMX253 sensor with 12 MP resolution and a frame rate of 68 fps, or with the IMX255 sensor at 9 MP and 93 fps. The camera with its compact footprint of 80 mm x 80 mm x 45 mm is equipped with a digital input as well as two GPIO ports and is suitable for cable lengths of up to 40 meters.
The Basler boost camera achieves a bandwidth of up to 12.5 Gbps via a single CXP-12 cable thanks to the CoaXPress 2.0 standard published in July 2019. The combination with Power-over-CXP (PoCXP) enables a cost-saving single cable solution. A number of powerful Basler features, such as the PGI feature set, ensure effective image optimization directly in the camera.
The CXP-12 Starter Kit consists of a CXP data cable, two heat sinks for optimum heat management outside the vision system, a C-mount lens adapter, and a power I/O cable for powering and externally triggering the camera. The appropriate lens – if not already available – is available from the Basler lens portfolio.
The CXP-12 Evaluation Kit provides everything for an efficient integration of the boost camera and the CXP-12 Interface Card and enables an optimal evaluation. The pylon SDK makes installation child’s play, thanks to the specially coordinated product portfolio: a single driver is all that is needed to put the camera and interface card into operation. Video instructions for installing and starting the Evaluation Kit are available for additional support.
