Announcement: Discontinuation of Certain Sony’s CCD Sensor

Reasons for discontinuation:

The discontinuation of certain CCD sensor based cameras is required as a result of the discontinuation of these sensors by Sony itself.

Sony discontinued their CCD sensor family already in 2015 and stopped their CCD sensor production. This the availability of the affected sensors for each camera family is dependent on the remaining available volumes of each sensor model. Due to unexpected high demands the availability of some sensors is already now more critical than others.

Basler cameras with CCD sensors from Sony has been in the market for many years and formed the base for various successful cameras our customers could always rely on.

During the last years, CMOS technology has made extensive progress the last years and has achieved a very advanced level. Basler has broadened the camera portfolio with CMOS sensors from Sony and other suppliers and hence provides highly suitable replacements for the discontinued CCD sensor based cameras.

The last time buy date for Basler cameras with CCD sensors will be on 31st of August 2018. We understand the challenges this discontinuation causes and will do our best to guide our customers along the way finding appropriate camera models for CCD replacement.
